Bears improve but still fall to Cowboys in wk 8

Must Read

It was another loss for the Bears on Sunday against the Cowboys, and while the result is important the improvement in offense we’ve seen the last two weeks is the key as we take a look at our 3 takeaways from week 8.

Fields looks dynamic in this offence

I’m not sure where, or why, offensive coordinator Luke Getsy was hiding this offensive scheme the first 6 weeks of the season but the new look clearly suits Justin Fields. Fields is more dynamic, running more, finding more open receivers, stretching the field vertically and horizontally and is starting to look like he really is the future.

Per Justin Fields last two games are easily his best two passing games of the season, and it all starts with moving him out of the pocket and away from that horrible offensive line. Long may it continue, because this offense has me all excited.

Bears D has it’s worst game in a while

As the offence improves and puts 29 on the highly-touted Cowboys defence, the defence capitulates and makes Dak Prescott look amazing. Clearly Dak is a top-level QB, but this was another level as the Bears scored at will in the first half.

The defence could only manage 6 pressures the whole game and Roquan Smith had easily his worst game in a long time. PFF graded only 4 of the Bears defenders as ‘starter level’ for this game and it’s easy to see why. Horrific.

Teven Jenkins is quietly becoming a serious pro

After a bad rookie season, that didn’t last very long due to injury, and a couple of horrible starts this season, Green Bay and Minnesota, Jenkins is starting to put together a body of work that gives us hope that he could be a piece to build around.

There will always be questions about his durability, but on his current trajectory he could be a stalwart of this line for years to come. It wasn’t his best game of the season, but he was still solid, and the best thing is last season this would’ve been his best game.
